               About Quinn

Quinn Smith is a level 10 gymnast who was born on May 20, 2002 in Jiangxi, China. She was adopted by Rhonda Smith when she was 15 months old and has lived in Phoenix, Arizona ever since. She is an only child to her mother Rhonda except for her dog brother and sister, Shamu and Snow. Other than gymnastics, Quinn also enjoys art, reading and hanging out with her friends. Currently Quinn is a freshman at Sunnyslope High School where she is studying honors English, honors biology, honor geometry, PE, art and Spanish

 

Quinn’s first interaction with gymnastics was around the age of 3 and in 2008 her passion for the sport lead to a leap into competitive gymnastics at Arizona Sunrays, where she currently trains and competes.

 

Each competitive year Quinn has achieved many first place finishes in all around and individual events including state, regional and western competitions. This includes

  • Level 6 - Five first place finishes in a row for the all around title for the Arizona Spring State Championships, Arizona Grand Invitational, Valley of the Sun Challenge, Classic Rock Invitational and The Gold Rush Invitational.

  • Level 7 – Ten first place finishes including first in bars, beam, floor and all around at the Arizona State Meet, Region 1 State Team qualifier and two all around scores of 38+.

  • Level 8 - Seven first place finishes including first in vault, beam, floor and all around at the Arizona State Meet, Region 1 State Team qualifier and two all around scores of 38+.

  • Level 9 – Ten first place finishes including first in bars and all around at the Arizona State Meet, Region 1 qualifier finishing first in bars, second in vault, third in floor and second all around, Level 9 Western Championships qualifier finishing in first place in bars, and scoring highest all around score of career so far at 38.5.

  • Level 10 - 2017 Nastia Liukin Cup 2nd on vault. 2017 JO Nationals vault and all-around champion.

 

This 2017 season, Quinn is competing level 10 where her goal is to place in the top 6 at Regionals so she is able to compete at the JO National Championships, which will be held in May 2017 in Indianapolis. She has already achieved another one of her goals for 2017, qualifying for the Nastia Liukin Cup. She'll be competing in Arizona, Washington, Nevada, and California. Also, this year she hopes to achieve her highest all around score, greater than 38.5, which placed her in the number one position in the nation for level 9 all around scores in 2016.
